I believe everyone is an artist. 

I believe the terms “artist” and “art” are immensely expansive, encompassing many, many areas of life and extending beyond the typical paint, clay, film, wood, words…

I believe art requires an openness to the different.

Some may think an artist has to pick one form, stick to it, and master it.

Some may think an artist can’t juggle the technical and logistical sides of life on earth.

Here, you’re seeing, in real time, my experience of challenging my own thoughts on artistry. Going against this internalized belief that I have to pick one type of art…one style of photography—only creative, such as editorial, or only technical, such as real estate.

Just as the earth has different seasons, so do humans…artists. Each season feeds the other, nourishes the other, and keeps the other alive.

“Jack of all trades, but master of none” oh, how this phrase used to give me so much insecurity.

BUT

Now, this phrase is alternatively embraced.

There is no rule.

Except to be open.
